bonding
Bonding is a conservative way to meet your cosmetic desires, leaving you with a beautiful smile. Using a tooth-coloured filling material (composite), bonding can fill in gaps and chips. It can also be used to hide discolouration. Bonding offers an additional benefit in that it does not require the removal of any of the natural tooth surface.
procedure
Before we start the procedure we decide, together, on a colour which matches your teeth. The tooth surface is cleaned and bonding agent applied. The tooth coloured filling material is then placed and shaped. Once Dr Jukes is happy with the shape we use a blue light to harden the material. We make final shaping adjustments and polish the surface to ensure as natural a shine as possible. Please note composite does not reflect light in the same way as porcelain so the final look will not be quite as natural as porcelain.
candidates
Ideal candidates are anyone who would like to improve the appearance of the shape or position of their teeth. It is also a cost effective way of disguising staining, chips or small gaps. Bonding can work very well alongside whitening to give a beautifully white and even looking smile.
Bonding is not recommended in those who smoke as the tobacco smoke will, with time, cause staining at the edges.
